Aims of the Consultation
- Reasoning on Quality, the RAV (Self-Evaluation Report), the ReQuS (the network for quality in school) and the European project OpenQAsS.
- Questions about the planning and development of the planned software at the Teacher’s consultation event.
The questionnaire allowed partners to include any other comment or suggestion regarding all those aspects not dealt with in the questionnaire, or aspects that should be taken into further account.
Results
Teacher preparation and continuos training is a must
- Need of one or more online training courses, very simple, like MOOC (maximum 3 weeks) with a series of videos , textual material (not many, but well- selected) and short online quiz. At the end of each course it would be useful if the teacher can get a certificate of participation, in order to feel motivated to analyze his work and sustained in training.
- The course should be free of charge.
Lack of dialogue, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary between teachers
- Need of online tools to share best practices (temples, procedures, tools to check, evaluate and suggestions to improve PDCA cycle on a regularly basis).
QA system used
- The RAV (Italian QA System) is at early stage.
- Most of the teachers work with his/her own way of monitoring QA process and results.
- QA System should be implemented as a “school-system”, boosted from headmasters and shared as a practice between teachers, otherwise it is not useful for the student class.
EQAVET understanding
- Discussion in progress in the platform.
- Most of the teachers do not understand the indicators n° 5, 6 and 9. What is teacher’s specific role regarding this points?
- Difficult for them to get in touch with the world of work and elaborate curricula with employer engagement to prepare students for life.
Suggestions regarding EQAVET and QA System toolkit
- Teachers need to be trained more at a practical level. Formative activities should be structured as in a fablab where you can learn and experiment, but first you should focus with the training of trainers. Need of more practical in training and not just informations and slides.
- The School System needs a standardized digital instrument shared by all the schools to which they can easily connect, where each lesson can be recorded with a synthesis of what and how the lesson has taken place. Moreover, this ideal tool should also be visible to external observers who should hold audits twice a year or three times with teachers, students and families to gather field information.
- Need for unique monitoring tools. Unique software should be developed and used to implement and control the various points in the quality improvement process.
- It would be useful to develop a software that will also collect specific data weekly, a kind of ad hoc SWOT tool with its relative percentages.
- The tool should offer one or more online streamlining courses, MOOC type (maximum 3 weeks) with a variety of videos, textual material (not much but well-selected) and short online quizzes. Equipped with powerful tools to improve the quality of teaching, which does not require much time and energy. At the end of each course, it would be helpful for the teacher to obtain a certificate of attendance so that he / she can feel motivated to analyze his / her work and sustain it in continuous training and updating.
